 Hannis Red Prim 

Hannis "Red" Prim played football in high school at Jackson where he was outstanding on the field. He parlayed his skills into a playing career in college at Auburn University in 1930-32 where was a three-year letterman at tackle.

His first head coaching job was at Gaylesville in 1934 where he stayed for two seasons. In 1936 he became the head football coach at Clarke County for one season and again in 1941 for one year.

Following World War II he got the job in Hartford High School in Geneva County. Prims stint as the head coach there lasted for three years before he was back in Grove Hill at Clarke County High School.

Prim would remain at Clarke County for the next 16 seasons as the head football coach. In all, Prim spent 25 of his 33 years in education at Clarke County where he served as coach, teacher and principal. His 18 year football record at Clarke County was 79-71-24. He also coached basketball and baseball and compiled winning records in both.

The stadium in Grove Hill bears his name in honor of his service to the town. Prim was inducted into the Alabama High School Athletic Associations Hall of Fame.
